Curran Court Hotel now on the market

The Curran Court Hotel in Larne is now on the market just weeks after being placed into administration.

The 33-bedroom hotel on the Redlands Road, which is owned and run by Crawford Leitch, has traded in the coastal town since the early 1970s. It originally opened its doors at a site on the Curran Road before moving to its present location.

New owners are now being sought for the hotel – and for sister business, La Bodega Bar in Larne – which was also placed into administration early in August.

More than 70 staff employed at the hotel and the bar on Point Street are affected by the news. Reports have appeared that suggest a small number of staff have been let go since administrators, Ernst & Young arrived.

LCN recently reported a spokesperson for the Curran Court Hotel Group, who revealed that the first thing staff knew of the problems was when the administrators arrived at the hotel reception to say that the bank had foreclosed on the building loan:

“It was such a shock as this is a good business which has been trading well and we were about to celebrate 41 years in business in Larne,” said the spokesperson. “The staff are the priority but they are all devastated and in shock.”
