MBE for hotelier Patsy O’Kane

Derry~Londonderry hotelier Patsy O’Kane recently collected an MBE in recognition of her achievements and service to tourism and hospitality.

The owner and general manager of the Beech Hill Country House Hotel – named Hotel of the Year (under 75 rooms) at last year’s LCN Awards – travelled to Buckingham Palace where she was awarded the prestigious accolade by Princess Anne.

Speaking about the award, Patsy said she was “truly honoured”, and added:

“Being presented with the award byHer Royal HighnessPrincess Anne in the beautiful surroundings of Buckingham Palace is an experience that I will never forget.

“This award is testament to my family’s hard work and dedication over the past 24 years to transform the Beech Hill into a luxurious four star hotel.

Patsy’s family has owned the Beech Hill Country House Hotel since 1989 and it was Patsy who undertook its transformation from a Georgian home into a 30-bedroom hotel.

She can boast of having hosted several of the world’s most powerful people including Bill and Hilary Clinton, John Kerry and actor, Will Ferrell.

The award winning Beech Hill Country House Hotel is a luxurious four star country house built in 1729. It has 30 well appointed luxury bedrooms and a stylish restaurant that offers a country living dining experience set within 32 acres of woodland and lakes.
