New role at Clandeboye for Nick

Well-known Belfast restaurateur Nick Price, proprietor of the former Nick’s Warehouse in Belfast, has joined forces with The Clandeboye Lodge Hotel to launch a new restaurant called Coq & Bull.

Readers will remember that Nick’s Warehouse closed its doors in Cathedral Quarter during the summer after 24 years of trading. At that time, Nick announced that he intended to retire, but news of his involvement with the Clandeboye emerged as the venue unveiled its latest improvements.

Located at the edge of the Clandeboye Estate, the Clandeboye Lodge Hotel has invested £500,000 in an extensive refurbishment of the entire ground floor including the reception, lounges and bar area – with the stunning new Coq & Bull Brasserie at its heart. Nick Price, in his first commercial venture since his Belfast restaurant closed, has returned to the limelight consulting on the venue’s signature menu and food presentation with Clandeboye Lodge head chef Ian Little and his team.

The Coq & Bull restaurant is named after the celebrated works of playwright Richard Brinsley Sheridan, former owner of Drury Lane Theatre in London, who had family ties to the local area – the adjacent Helen’s Tower is named after his grand-daughter.

Nick Price said recently that he had been impressed by the passion he team at the restaurant had demonstrated:

“When they showed me their plans for the restaurant I felt it was something I really wanted to be part of,” he remarked. “I’m very much looking forward to working with the team at Coq & Bull to create some great dishes.”
