Belfast Met hospitality student, Patryk Sojka, was part of the Belfast Met team of trainee chefs who won the gold award in the coveted Parade des Chefs competition at IFEX 2014.

Patryk was part of a chef team of six who won the top award for their pop-up restaurant, The Scullery, at the annual industry event. The Professional Cookery students served 60 diners over a two-hour period, delivering an award-worthy four course menu in a real restaurant setting. The winning menu was themed on Belfast nostalgia and included potted herring, beef brisket and apple tart.

Belfast Met hospitality and bakery students continued to sweep the board with a host of other awards from the Chef Skills and Edible Art competitions. Additional gold awards were received for NI Food Heritage and Decorated Celebration Cake, with silver awards for Petits Fours and Caloriewise categories and bronze recognition for Culinarian of the Year and Classical Poultry.
